John Lithgow has had quite an extraordinarily varied career over the last forty years, on stage and screen. He had major roles in Brian DePalma's thrilling Blow Out, Twilight Zone: The Movie (playing the same role as fellow 3rd Rock actor William Shatner), Terms of Endearment, Footloose, Harry and the Hendersons, Memphis Belle, Raising Cain, Cliffhanger, and many more.

The leggy, busty, brassy blonde bombshell of the group, Sally Solomon is actually only female because her original (asexual) alien form lost a bet! Nevertheless, while the female of the human species is understandably even tougher to work out than the male, she soon starts to revel in it.

In a show about aliens in human form, struggling to get used to our bizarre Earth ways, Harry Solomon is unquestionably the one that struggles more than any other. Perpetually squinty-eyed and perplexed, and utilising French Stewart's prodigious skills with physical comedy to the utmost, Harry somehow manages to blunder his way into the hearts of a string of women. Artistic or autistic? It's a fine line...

Being a kid pretending to be an alien pretending to be a kid can't be the easiest gig in the world, but Gordon-Levitt carries it off with aplomb. Tommy Solomon is, in fact, the oldest alien of the group, but nevertheless stuck in the youngest body. The sagacity of his years, mixed with the unstable alchemy of teen hormones, makes for an intriguing and hilarious combination!

The long-suffering colleague of Dick Solomon, Mary of course ends up rather infatuated with the great big loon. So much more than just a 'straight man' to the wacky alien antics, she is one of Dick's prime sources of information about humanity, whether she realises it or not. A lifelong student of the human condition, it's no wonder Dick confuses and intrigues her!

Harry achieves popularity as circus performer, 'Hargo the Alien'. In order to find him Tommy and Vicki visit a psychic.

When Mary is promoted, Dick assumes that her new powers extend to him too. Meanwhile, Sally struggles to talk about 'bedroom affairs'.

Dick becomes obsessed with collecting just about anything after a close call with a 'Fuzzy Buddy' toy in a burger meal.

Dick is angry that Mary has little time for him anymore now she is Dean, and is even more annoyed when he finds out he has to share an office with a new professor.

Dick soon regrets his dalliance with Jennifer, as what he once regarded as amusing quirks become hideously irritating.

Everything is in place for Dick to jilt Jennifer and make up with Mary, but things are never that easy! Meanwhile, Don and Sally go bowling.

With Playpen magazine scouting for models Sally quickly volunteers her services, while Dick is livid at Mary's lurid revelation.

As New Year approaches Dick reflects bitterly on his lack of achievement over the previous twelve months.

Sally's long overdue request for gender reassignment is finally put into action with her and Dick swapping bodies.

Dick erroneously receives an invitation to a family reunion but - proving you actually can choose your family - attends anyway.

The Solomons get a rude awakening when their tax bill arrives. Determined to avoid the hefty payment, they try any and every trick possible.

Dick inadvertently fuels Dr. Albright's paranoia about her work prospects. Meanwhile, the rest of the family heads to the casino.

With Albright's power at the college waning Dick seizes the opportunity to send her into full blown paranoia.

When Sally decides to move out and Harry wants to have a baby with Mrs Dubcek, Dick sees his control of the mission falling to pieces.

Dick becomes crazily superstitious trying to undo the bad luck from discarding a chain letter. Meanwhile, Sally frequents the hardware store.

Dick finally gets switched onto computers and the internet, completely cutting himself off from the 'real' world.

The Solomons hire a maid to help them overcome Sally's absence, but Sally soon gets jealous of her high regard within the family.

A mysterious woman panders to Dick's ego and sweet talks her way around the rest of the family too. But who is she and why is she here?

Dick uses Tommy's relationship with a rival's daughter to cause trouble, while Sally and Don succumb to loneliness after their breakup.

Dick becomes jealous when Tommy, Sally, and Harry all share a near death experience involving a falling chandelier.
