John Lithgow has had quite an extraordinarily varied career over the last forty years, on stage and screen. He had major roles in Brian DePalma's thrilling Blow Out, Twilight Zone: The Movie (playing the same role as fellow 3rd Rock actor William Shatner), Terms of Endearment, Footloose, Harry and the Hendersons, Memphis Belle, Raising Cain, Cliffhanger, and many more.

The leggy, busty, brassy blonde bombshell of the group, Sally Solomon is actually only female because her original (asexual) alien form lost a bet! Nevertheless, while the female of the human species is understandably even tougher to work out than the male, she soon starts to revel in it.

In a show about aliens in human form, struggling to get used to our bizarre Earth ways, Harry Solomon is unquestionably the one that struggles more than any other. Perpetually squinty-eyed and perplexed, and utilising French Stewart's prodigious skills with physical comedy to the utmost, Harry somehow manages to blunder his way into the hearts of a string of women. Artistic or autistic? It's a fine line...

Being a kid pretending to be an alien pretending to be a kid can't be the easiest gig in the world, but Gordon-Levitt carries it off with aplomb. Tommy Solomon is, in fact, the oldest alien of the group, but nevertheless stuck in the youngest body. The sagacity of his years, mixed with the unstable alchemy of teen hormones, makes for an intriguing and hilarious combination!

The long-suffering colleague of Dick Solomon, Mary of course ends up rather infatuated with the great big loon. So much more than just a 'straight man' to the wacky alien antics, she is one of Dick's prime sources of information about humanity, whether she realises it or not. A lifelong student of the human condition, it's no wonder Dick confuses and intrigues her!

Mary's spoiled sister arrives in town, leading Dick to formulate a plan to get one over on her, but will he include anyone else in his scheme?

Tommy's attempted reconciliation with Alissa goes better than expected, forcing Strudwick to join with Dick to stop them eloping.

Dick and Mary double date with Sally and Don. When the conversation turns to sex, things get decidedly awkward.

Things start to turn sour in the Solomons' parallel universe and they want to go home.

Tommy is looking for a college and Dick advises him not to go to one of the big names and tries to convince him to attend Pendelton instead.

While Sally's bowled over by Tommy's replacement Harry isnÂ't impressed, leaving Dick to try and persuade Tommy to come home.

Dick strives to be more American only to receive a setback when he learns he actually has a Canadian passport.

Dick excitedly agrees to go on an archaeological dig with Mary with visions of Indiana Jones in his very misguided head.

Dick and Sally form an act to entertain at a children's party, whileMary and Harry get involved in a self-defense class.

When a psychic opens Dick's eyes to his inevitable departure he resolves to find Mary the perfect 'Dick replacement' - so to speak.

Dick and his new camera proceed to make Mary angry by taking her picture against her wishes. She decides the two need some time off.

While Sally and Harry babysit a new alien mistakenly sent to Earth, Dick tries to keep the peace between Mary and her overbearing mother.

Dick and Don take Sally and Mary on an extravagant holiday at their newly acquired timeshare. Meanwhile, Harry thinks heÂ's shrinking.

Having read Mary's favourite self help book Dick rids himself of all conflict in his life Â- including Mary.

Dick is driven to a jealous rage when he intercepts love letters from the mysterious 'Scoochie' to Mary. Guest starring John Cleese.

Dick tries to come between Mary and her secret admirer, who just so happens to be Dick's evil nemesis hell bent on taking over the Earth.

The group is ordered home but there are plenty of loose ends to tie up before a long space trip.
